Do you have to run it as a point to point circuit if you want to use feedback modules or the s88 bus does not mind running in a closed loop circuit?

The only one reference I had found online said the former but I had to wonder as many module and some home setups seem to have a loop circuit hence why I am not so certain who to trust.

I had always ran analog control with toy trains but now my first scale model layout is going to have digital control too, so although I have managed to learn some things online there is still a few things I do not know well about like with this particular one regarding digital feedbacks - so many thanks
